Jim Farrell
and Peter Lane make up BOTH BARRELS - playing traditional Irish
music and original songs in the Irish style.
Jim and Pete met whilst playing rugby at Heath Rugby
Club and after several drinks said they were both as drunk as each
other! A gig was ordered in lieu of free beer at the rugby club
to raise funds. A band with no name became Beer Barrel Farrell and
Lager Lane, hence The Lager Barrels - a 90's super group conceived.
Then followed a world tour of King Cross with regular gigs at The
Junction, The Falcon, Heath Rugby Club and King Cross cricket club.
As time progressed, Nick Sellers joined the band
for a one off track and stayed for the next two years. Work and
family commitments caused Jim to leave the band, The Lager Barrels,
exit stage left into the shadows.
Eighteen months later, Jim and Pete, fuelled with
the inspiration of alcohol, made a 20 minute appearance on stage
with Belt of the Celts and realised the buzz was still there and
decided to play again.
