This will allow you to set 'buy XXX get 1 free' type discounts within an individual category*. You specify how many full price items need to be purchased to qualify for a free product. The price of the lowest qualifying item is then deducted from the basket at checkout.
For example, setting the Qualifying Amount to 2 means the customer can buy 2 items and get the 3rd free. Buy 4 and get the 5th and 6th items free. Buy 6 and get 7th, 8th and 9th free, and so on.
You can specify which categories the discount will apply to and switch it on/off as necessary.
*The mod will work on products in multiple categories as long as they have been initially created in the same category with the mod set up. i.e.
Create Category A and set up the buy xxx get xxx free amounts Create Category B Create Category C Create product listing 1 in Category A and use the 'Manage Categories' option to add product to Category B Create product listing 2 also in Category A and use the 'Manage Categories' option to add product to Category C
and so on. In this way, product 1 and 2 will be linked and counted towards the free allowance from whichever category they are selected.
If you then do not want Category A to appear in the main navigation I can give you the 1 line of code necessary to do this.
