I am researching the Herbert family from Miserden in Gloucestershire. One of them, Archibald Owen Herbert, (my late father in law) was first married in 1936 in Leighton Buzzard and again in Northampton in 1943. When he first married he was employed as a chauffeur at Stoke House, Stoke Albany in Buckinghamshire.Any feedback gratefully accepted.

I read with interest your website related to the Bason family from Stoke Goldington. I have a lot of information about the Bason family from Weston Underwood but I cannot seem to make a connection between the two. My great grandfather was William Gregory Bason (Born circa 1853). His father James Bason (Born 1814) married Ann Hakes in 1837. All my Bason references from that era are to Weston Underwood. I wonder if anyone knows of a Bason link between the two places?

I am trying to research my Sedgwick ancestors in England - the earliest I have is my great-grandfather, Charles F. Sedgwick, born in 1830, to Richard and Elizabeth Gingell Sedgwick in Middlesex. In later years Charles came to the U.S., married, served in the Civil War and raised the family in New York City. If you have any information, or better yet, if we are related, it would be wonderful to share, if you would be willing. I have more info.

Have a Winn family from Thirsk, Yorkshire, Eng. in 1839 to Philadelphia PA from Liverpool - arriving there June 10, 1839. Thomas Winn age 40, Mary COSSINS Winn age 38, 6 children - Rachel, Alice, Dawson, Elizabeth, Ann, and Benjamin. Listed in that order as 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. Also listed as from Ireland? , and Dawson listed as female? . Dawson is my great grandfather however. Have some baptismal records for the children and Dawson was b. Nov 1828 in Thirsk. He died in 1908 in St. Clair Co MO. Girls were married to Plummer, Yocum, Morrison, Wetherell. Dawson m. twice to Underwood and Turner. Benjamin -- no further info on him and he may have died as a very young man.

Since I have had so much trouble locating Thomas and family after coming to US, I have decided to pursue the Dawson name as a surname for some ancestor of Thomas or Mary COSSINS WINN. If you see any connection here please let me know.

There was another Dawson Winn who had a son Metcalf Winn and I believe they came to the US in 1823 and there is a descendant in New Philadelphia OH. Have his info, name, address and e-mail.

My Herberts were John and Richard Herbert in England, Earl of Pembroke. (Every one in England is named John Herbert.) My John was in this country [USA] in 1649 under the name of Wilkenson. His brothers where William and Philp and they where on the Virginia Charter. I do have a lot of material on these Lower Norfolk Co. Va. residents but one that I can't find was a Herbert (Rosea Tyler) who married a Herbert (sons John and Richard) as her father was John Herbert I beleive Richard to be named after his father. I've been stumped on this name for a long time. Her mother was a Curle. If you have any thing on this family I would appreicate it. They fought in the Rev and Civil Wars.

Date as yet unknown. They then lived in Kingston upon Hull and had three children Mary Ann, Elizabeth Ann and my grandmother Lucy Ann (d.o.b. 22nd January 1873) who married John William Hewitt (d.o.b. 27th June 1872) son of John Joseph Hewitt and Georgine Hewitt (nee Blackborn). They went on to have eight children sadly there is no living children. Any help would be appreciated

I am a descendant of Joseph Amos Herbert ±1790-1830 (ggg grandfather) who lived and is buried in Edenham, Lincolnshire. He and his wife, Mary Bruff, had 6 children, 2 of which came to U.S. in mid 1850's. I have some information and would like to expand on it - and learn the origin of that Herbert line.
Your web page is very commendable.
