Will dated 24th March 1821.
"To my brother John Sedgwick all my clothes.
To my dear wife Dorothy 10 pounds.
To my niece Alice Hunter my eight-days clock.
To my wife Dorothy all the rest of my household furniture during her widowhood & the leasehold dwelling-house in Dent where we now live.
To my nephew Leonard Sedgwick my freehold property of West Banks near Dents Town & my house in Dents Town after the determination of my wife's estate therein.
I also give Leonard all my mortgages, bonds, bills & other securities for money and all my other personal estate, he paying the following legacies:
To my wife one hundred pounds.
To my nephew Edmund Sedgwick of Helmside 150 pounds.
To the three daughters of my late brother Richard Sedgwick, viz. Margaret, Elizabeth & Alice 20 pounds each.
To the four daughters of the late James Burton of Gibbshall deceased , viz. Margaret Batty, Betty Bentham, Agnes Sedgwick & Alice Burton each 20 pounds.
To Thomas Mason son of my late niece Mary Mason 20 pounds.
To Thomas Sedgwick s/o the Rev. Richard Sedgwick of this town 5 pounds.
I also give out of my real estate unto the son & 2 daughters of my late niece Nelly Moore, late wife of John Moore, 20 pounds equally amongst them when the youngest reaches the age of 21.
I further give to the 3 sons & two daughters of my late niece Isabel Cowper, late wife of Rowland Cowper of Garsdale 20 pounds equally amongst them when the youngest reaches the age of 21.
