"Miles Thistlethwaite of Scotchellgill in Dent, Bachelor of Arts, Master of the Free Grammar School of Dent
WILL dated 5th May 1689

To my eldest son Jeffrey Thistlethwaite for ever all my m & t at Scotchellgill in Kirthwaite in Dent, he to enter to the one halfe thereof at 24 years, he paying out of the same £20 apiece unto the rest of my children, vizt. Myles, Richard, Gyles and Timothy. Jeffrey is to enter upon the other halfe of Scotcellgill at age 30 and pay to his brothers £30 each. If Jeffrey dies before age 24, then Myles inherits.

To my dear wife Mary a full third part of my m & t at Scotchellgill for her life.

To my son Jeffrey my young bay colt.

Feoffees in Trust of this my last Will & Testament I make & appoint my natural brother Timothy Thistlethwaite, my brother in law Thomas Foxcroft of WeatherCoate in Ingleton Fells, my brother in law Henry Mason and my kinsman Christopher Burton of Stonehouses. They are to have 5 shillings each. I do desire my Cousin Anthony Fawcett of Shoolebred to be assistant to my feoffees.
