Will of Richard HAYGARTH : 1642 - 1700


THE WILL OF RICHARD HAYGARTH of Hindekeld in Garsdale yeoman
WILL dated January the third day 1700

To my loving wife Katherine Haygarth all my Messuage, Land & Tenement at Hindkeld in Garsdale during the term of her natural life provided she shall not marry again but continue my wife. And after her death I give & devise the same to my son Matthew Haygarth for ever, he paying forth of the same unto my Executors, Trustees or Supervisors, hereinafter named for the use of my younger children the sum of six score and ten pounds within one year after his Entrance therunto.
I give to my son Matthew Haygarth during the term of his mother Katherine Haygarth's life all the messuages lands & Tenements scituate at Leasbrow with all the houses & Appurtenances &c. to enter int when he is 25. He is to pay forth of the same within one year's entrance £10 to my executors. To my said son Matthew I give one cupboard, my clocke, my Dresser, my table, my great meale Chiste and the Bedstocks in the Parler after my wifes decease.
To my son Richard Haygarth all my messuages &c at Leasbrow after the decease of his mother Katherine. Richard is to pay £20 out of the Leasebrow estate to his father's executors for the upkeep of his father Richard's younger children.
To my son Michael Haygarth fourscore pounds at 25 years, if living.
To my son James Haygarth fourscore pounds at 25, if living.
To my daughter Margaret Haygarth £40 at 22 years.
To my daughter Isabel the wife of James Fawcett of Broadfield in Dent £40 to be paid to her on the 11th of November next if she be living.
To my son John Haygarth for the use of his daughter Katherine 20 shillings.
To John the son of William Burton of Hackergill in Dent 5 shillings.
To Thomas son of Alexander Nelson of Garsdale 5 shillings.
To the poor of Garsdale £2.
