The Portal Partnership Ltd are specialists for installation, training and management for a wide range of business solutions including IBM e-Discovery, IBM FileNet and IBM Commonstore. Sleepy Frog Designs carried out a Website Healthcheck for them to be used in conjunction with Trovus Revelations and their feedback is shown below.
"The Healthcheck provided by Sleepy Frog [Designs] was extremely extensive and overall contained a lot of information we were both pleased to receive and some of which we were surprised to discover. Before the healthcheck was able to commence [Sleepy Frog Designs] presented us with challenges which highlighted a large problem area for our website that we hadn’t previously addressed. Keywords are something we have experimented with, in the past, but we’ve not clearly identified what they should be for the different areas of our business. The people within our company who lead these areas were just as challenged as our marketing department when they were asked to select five keywords (solutions names etc), as it’s something everyone expects to be very obvious, but in reality, is not so straight forward.
So as not to delay the Healthcheck we chose some keywords, with [Sleepy Frog Designs] help and did some research on this information which was reported back to us via the report. It was here we learnt about the placing of these words within our pages and the importance of how likely keywords could be successful, depending on which ones you choose. With this in mind, and from the report we received back, it was obvious our keywords needed to be more specific and we set about some experiments within the IM technical section of our site.
Before the website health check our keywords within this area were:
· Electric Discovery
· Document Management
· Electric Document Management
We were very poorly rated within Google for these searches apart from in Document management where we had an above average result. We have now changed [our website] and have found the results to be extremely successful:
For IBM e-Discovery the results with no incurred costs to Google: #2 on Page 1
For IBM FileNet – no fees paid: #5 on Page 1
IBM Commonstore – no fees paid again: #1 on Page 1
Although these keywords are very specific to IBM technologies, if IT personnel are specifically looking for these products (from IBM promotions, PP campaigns, word of mouth etc), they are likely to come across us before anyone else and our consistency to come on the first page should demonstrate our strength, knowledge and experience within these technologies. The Ranking analysis done by the healthcheck clearly showed our keywords were far too popular and we are never likely to come close to the first page in Google so this reinforced our decision to enforce more specific keywords in order to be successful within search engines.
Because we are so pleased with the results we are now going to re-address the other areas of our site to implement the same practice and hopefully see the same results.
The overall information provided on this Healthcheck was extremely helpful and accurate and challenged our practices and the way we use our website.
Both the Website Healthcheck and the Trovus tool has enabled us the capability to align our marketing activities to true results in terms of awareness of PP and monitoring the success of our customer and prospect engagements. Before having the Healthcheck, we were aiming too high and vague with regards to getting people to look at our pages, through Search Engines. Without Trovus we were not aware of who had been following up on our campaign messages and the sales people were unable to determine who had been researching our proposed solutions."
