2002 - The Village Hall, Sheriff Hutton, Nr. York
MEMBER'S OWN/ROADSHOW
These pictures show the Members' Road Show, which took
place at Sheriff Hutton. Members brought along their own collections or items
they wanted to know more about. The morning was spent looking at the exhibits
and talking to the owners about them.
Members with no Internet access also had the opportunity to see the website and
to navigate themselves around it.
Lunch was provided by ladies of Sheriff Hutton and was, as usual, delicious.
The highlight of the event was the cutting of the 25th Anniversary cake, baked
and iced with our logo, by Margaret Cullingworth. This was also highly
scrumptious.
In the afternoon owners of some of the interesting textile items on display
spoke about them; others asked questions when little was known about their use
or origins. Experts from amongst those present were able to share their
knowledge with all of us and were often able to give much needed
information.
This successful day offered members of The Society the opportunity to meet and
talk to each other in a more informal setting than is often possible on days
when we have a speaker or we visit a museum or gallery. We hope to include such
meetings at approximately 18 month intervals.
