TERRY FOX, fashion
designer, author and sewing expert.
After qualifying, Terry worked for Zandra
Rhodes, Belville Sassoon and the Emmanuels. Following the decision to launch
her own label, her inaugural collection of evening, wedding and special
occasion wear at Harrods was quickly sold out.
With a successful label continuing to develop, Terry's thoughts turned to
sharing the secrets of the couture world. Lectures and workshops proved
instantly popular and after six months her sewing school and consultancy
business was prospering. The English Couture Company was established and was
soon advising teachers, designers and dressmakers in the intricate and
beautiful art of haute couture.
Her enthusiastic and down-to-earth approach to fashion created a fantastic
opportunity for her to present an eighteen part TV series for BBC1, Wear it
Well. Book offers, videos and magazine articles were soon to follow.
Terry continues to present a selected number of professional courses in the UK,
Europe and the USA. Her book, Terry Fox Fashion Collection, gave readers the
opportunity to make, from start to finish, one of ten couture garments.
Now she is based in Suffolk, where she lives with her husband Robert Legge.
Working from her studio Frilli FX, she offers an exquisite collection of haute
couture designs, inspired by a lifetime's passion for collecting all things old
and beautiful. The style is an eclectic mix of vintage glamour and modern
references with a shabby chic edge.
Terry currently has a full order book for her gowns, richly embellished wrist
purses, handbags and newly launched home accessories. The latter includes
finely detailed quilts, cushions, bed linen, unique mosaic lamps and vases.
